Slavery has been a part of everyone’s history. From Abraham’s day until this very day, human beings are still fighting for freedom.
The day Jesus laid his life; we were supposed to be free of sins. However, like the Israelites in the Old Testament who always go back to their wrong ways, we are falling short of our faith that made us go the wrong path.
We are enslaved by the physical world, indulging the latest fashion, gadgets, and diet formula (name it and you have it). This physical world is dominating our lives, making fashion, gadgets and diet formulas the priority of existence. May be I am wrong, but you know what, action speaks louder than words and thoughts. What we think most of the time is different from what we do.
We are freemen now. We are free to do and act as we please. But, we are too wallowed by the idea of freedom that it makes us the slave of our own freedom. And the cycle repeats: sinning then redeemed, then sin again.
“So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” – Galatians 4:7 (NIV)
Paul said we are no longer a slave but an heir. So, let’s better act like an heir and not as slave. To be an heir, we should follow what Jesus did, be humble (don’t indulged yourself for what will make you famous), love everybody (also those you dislike the most) and know how to sacrifice.
We are not of this world, we are princesses and princes of God’s kingdom. The fashion of God’s heir is humility. While love is His kingdom’s gadget. And sacrifice is the most effective diet.
